What do you think is the biggest gripe that American's have about the US tax system? That's got be that they pay too much - right?
WRONG.
Somewhat surprisingly, 52% of Americans polled by the Pew Research Center (here) in a recent poll said that they paid about the right amount in taxes.
So if Americans think they pay the right amount, what about complexity? Wrong again. Only 28% rated the complexity of the system as the biggest problem.
So what is it that bothers people most? Well, its fairness. 57% said that what bothered them most about the US tax system was that wealthy people don't pay their fair share.
